Sega’s Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio, best known for its Yakuza and Like a Dragon series, will hold its annual RGG Summit on September 24, with fans expecting new game announcements and updates to ongoing projects. The broadcast will stream online at 12:00 JST, just days before the Tokyo Game Show opens.
The event is expected to spotlight both upcoming entries in the Like a Dragon franchise and Stranger Than Heaven, a new action title first revealed at The Game Awards in 2024. The game is set in 1943 Japan and promises narrative shifts across multiple timelines, combined with third-person combat reminiscent of Ryu Ga Gotoku’s earlier works.
The studio is also advancing development on the New Virtua Fighter Project. Footage presented at EVO Vegas earlier this year showed familiar character Akira battling new fighter Stella, offering the first glimpse of the franchise’s return after years of remasters. Producer Riichiro Yamada has said the new title aims to be “a game that anyone can play,” suggesting a wider appeal compared to past installments.
Ryu Ga Gotoku has used previous summits to preview major releases, including last year’s Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii. That title introduced longtime fan favorite Goro Majima in a spin-off set outside Japan, and was released in February 2025.
This year’s showcase is expected to deliver trailers, release windows, and extended gameplay demonstrations. The studio confirmed in a statement that the summit will “present the latest developments, along with additional details on the announcements made during the broadcast.”
