Vivo has finally officially announced their first foldable phone with the name vivo X Fold. This device adopts a fold-in design. In other words, the main screen of the phone is hidden when the device is folded. On the other hand, in the folded position, there is a smaller external screen.

The back panel has a rectangular module that houses a circular camera setup, there is also an LED flash in this module. The front of the vivo X Fold features a punch-hole along with curved edges. What’s unusual is that the device is also equipped with two ultrasonic fingerprint scanners.

Vivo designed the hinge of its first folding phone with a strong material. In Rheinland’s folding test, the device was folded 300,000 times overall to check its durability. Even if the user folds the phone 80 times a day, the folding mechanism will still function for 10 years.

Reporting from Gizmochina (12/4), the Vivo X Fold features an 8.03-inch main screen based on LTPO 3.0 OLED technology with UTG which has a 120 Hz refresh rate, 2K resolution, and 4:3.5 aspect ratio. This screen also supports HDR10+ and comes with a DCI P3 color gamut of up to 113%.

On the other hand, the secondary screen has a 6.53-inch E5 OLED panel with Full HD + resolution, 120 Hz refresh rate, HDR10 + support, 100% DCI P3 color gamut, and a 21:9 aspect ratio. In particular, both the external and internal screens have a punch-hole design for the camera housing.

In terms of specifications, this Vivo foldable phone is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor with a custom SPU and Adreno 730 for graphics. In simple terms, a purpose-built SPU is basically for enhancing the security and privacy of a phone at the chip level. Additionally, this flagship-class SoC is paired with UFS 3.1 internal storage and LPDDR5 RAM.

Its memory configuration includes 12GB of RAM paired with 256GB or 512GB of internal storage. Vivo X Fold runs on the Android 12 operating system with a custom-made interface. The phone is powered by a 4,600 mAh battery with support for fast charging up to 66W and 50W wireless charging. 66W fast charging is claimed to be able to fully charge in just 37 minutes.

For photography, the Vivo X Fold has a quad camera configuration on the back which includes a Zeiss lens and a T* coating. The main camera uses a 50 MP (f/1.75) Samsung GN5 sensor with OIS support, the second camera is a 48 MP (f/2.2) ultra-wide lens, the third camera is a 12 MP portrait lens, and finally there is a 5 MP periscope lens camera that offers zoom. optical up to 5x and digital zoom up to 60x.
