Last month, YouTube CEO Susan Wojcicki said the video-sharing platform was interested in exploring the NFT world. Now, YouTube is revealing its plans to make NFT one of the new features creators can take advantage of in 2022.

YouTube Chief Product Officer Neal Mohan revealed YouTube’s plans to support creators by 2022. In his blog post Mohan wrote about several new tools, but the most interesting of course was NFT.

“We’re seeing a lot of interesting apps, such as NFT being used to help manage a community of like-minded people; enabling fundraising for creators; helping creators print and sell their work in a verifiable way that also gives them a profit for after-sales,” said a YouTube spokesperson. , as quoted from TechCrunch.

Mohan said creators could use NFT as an opportunity to get closer to their audience. For example, fans can own photos, videos, or artwork from their favorite creators and prove ownership.

Other features that Mohan mentioned in the blog will be related to Shopping. YouTube will introduce new features such as the option to shop directly from videos, Live Shopping, and more shopping opportunities across apps.

YouTube will also be experimenting with livestreaming features. One of them is by releasing the Collaboration feature, where creators can livestream and interact simultaneously.

To help creators create more engaging content, YouTube will also provide analytical data and additional information through YouTube Studio.

Not to forget, to compete with TikTok, YouTube will also release more features for its short video platform, Shorts. Mohan said new features to be rolled out include more video effects and editing tools, as well as the option to reply to comments with videos.
