DJI is reportedly preparing to launch its next-generation action camera, the Osmo Action 6, later this month, following months of speculation about its release. According to a report by The New Camera, multiple sources suggest that the Chinese drone and imaging company is planning an October 24 unveiling for the device.
The Osmo Action 6 is expected to continue DJI’s return to the traditional action camera design, featuring a rectangular body with dual displays on the front and rear. Earlier filings from the U.S. Federal Communications Commission (FCC) revealed images of the device, confirming its overall design and layout. The model follows the company’s earlier releases this year, including the Osmo 360 and Osmo Nano, which introduced new camera form factors.
While earlier rumours pointed to a November lineup that could include the Osmo Mobile 8, Osmo Mobile 8P, Mic 3 Pro, and Neo 2, the latest report indicates that the Osmo Action 6 will be DJI’s next major consumer release instead. The publication noted that “multiple sources have informed it that DJI is lining up an October 24 launch event,” though no official confirmation from DJI has been made.
Specifications for the Osmo Action 6 reportedly include a 1-inch-style image sensor and a 1,950 mAh battery, offering improved performance over its predecessor. The camera is expected to start at around $329 in the U.S., positioning it competitively against similar models in the action camera market.
If the October 24 date proves accurate, industry observers anticipate DJI will release a teaser or formal announcement within the next week. The launch would mark the company’s latest effort to strengthen its foothold in the action camera segment as it faces increasing competition from GoPro and Insta360.
