Venture Valley, a financial literacy and entrepreneurship video game developed by the Singleton Foundation, has received the Business Category award at the 2025 Games and Learning Alliance (GALA) Competition in Utrecht, the Netherlands. The title was selected from 47 entries submitted under the 2025 theme, “Games for Good,” which focused on gaming projects designed to deliver educational and social value.

The game uses a multiplayer, tournament-style format to simulate business ownership and financial decision-making. Players advance from small-scale ventures to larger enterprises while applying core concepts such as budgeting, marketing, revenue growth and strategic competition. The system is designed to reinforce learning by directly linking in-game business results to the decisions made by users.

The GALA Conference, now in its 14th year, brings together specialists from academia and industry working in the field of serious games for training and education. Organizers highlighted Venture Valley for its approach to building financial literacy through interaction rather than passive instruction, in line with wider efforts in the sector to make economic learning more accessible to young audiences.

The Singleton Foundation stated that the award aligns with its program goals of improving financial confidence among young people through engaging educational tools. According to the organization, Venture Valley is intended to encourage students to think beyond theoretical knowledge and build skills that contribute to long-term economic independence.

The GALA recognition adds to several recent accolades for the game, including honors from The Anthem Awards, Tech & Learning Magazine and the Money Awareness and Inclusion Awards. Venture Valley also remains in contention for upcoming awards events in London and Florida later this year.
