Home Assistant has rolled out a new version of its iOS app, introducing a redesigned onboarding process and expanded support for Apple Watch and CarPlay. The update, numbered 2025.11.0, marks the most substantial upgrade to the open-source smart home platform’s mobile software in several months.
The revised onboarding experience is designed to simplify first-time setup for users. The company said the process should feel “easier” and “faster” to complete, according to the original announcement.
The latest update also introduces two selectable connection security levels. The recommended “Most secure” option restricts unencrypted connections to a user’s home network. The alternative “Less secure” mode allows users to avoid granting location permissions or disabling location controls at the system level, but may expose Home Assistant data to additional risk.
Version 2025.11.0 includes a series of bug fixes across connected services and wearable integrations. The release addresses an issue in the Apple Watch app that prevented header buttons from operating correctly, as well as a fault that stopped the Watch Assist pipeline picker from opening. The company also reports improved CarPlay connection stability.
