Vivo has unveiled a new entry-level smartphone, the Y500i, expanding its Y500 series lineup in China with a device aimed at budget-conscious consumers seeking large batteries and competitive specifications.

The Y500i is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 processor and is offered with up to 12 GB of RAM and 512 GB of internal storage, though it does not support expandable memory. Vivo positions the device as a lower-cost option alongside the previously released Y500 and Y500 Pro models, which debuted in China last year.

On the hardware side, the smartphone features a 6.75-inch HD+ LCD display with a 120-hertz refresh rate and peak brightness of up to 1,200 nits. Photography is handled by a dual rear camera setup led by a 50-megapixel primary sensor with autofocus, while a 5-megapixel front camera is included for selfies and video calls. The device measures 8.49 mm in thickness and weighs about 219 grams.

Battery capacity is a key selling point, with the Y500i equipped with a 7,200 mAh battery supporting 44-watt wired charging. Additional features include an IP68/69-rated water resistance, a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, infrared support, Bluetooth 4.2, dual-band WiFi and SGS Gold Label five-star durability certification. As the article notes, the handset offers “a decent set of features for the price.”

The Vivo Y500i is available in phoenix gold, obsidian black and galaxy silver. Pricing in China starts at 1,499 yuan (about $215) for the 8 GB RAM and 128 GB storage variant, rising to 2,199 yuan (about $315) for the top-end 12 GB and 512 GB model. The device is now on sale through Vivo’s official online channels in China.
