Samsung Electronics has launched a 13-inch color e-paper display globally, expanding its Color E-Paper lineup with a product designed to reduce power consumption and environmental impact while offering businesses an alternative to traditional printed signage.
The new model, the Samsung Color E-Paper EM13DX, is the smallest in the series and is aimed at use in locations such as shelves, counters and doors, where paper signs are still widely used. Comparable in size to A4 paper, the display offers a 1,600 x 1,200 resolution in a 4:3 aspect ratio and uses digital ink technology to deliver a paper-like appearance.

Samsung said the display is the first commercial product of its kind to feature a housing that incorporates a bio-resin derived from phytoplankton. According to the company, the casing is made up of 45% recycled plastic and 10% bio-based material, a combination intended to lower carbon emissions during manufacturing compared with petroleum-based plastics.
Designed for flexible deployment, the display includes a rechargeable embedded battery, USB Type-C support and multiple mounting options, allowing it to operate without a permanent power supply. Samsung said the device weighs about 0.9 kg and is just 17.9 mm thick, making it easy to install and reposition as display needs change.

The company said the e-paper display consumes no power when showing static images and uses significantly less energy than conventional digital signage when content is updated. Content can be managed locally through a mobile app or remotely via Samsung’s cloud-based VXT platform. Samsung also said it plans to expand the lineup further, including the introduction of a 20-inch model at the ISE 2026 trade show in Barcelona.
