Garmin has released beta software version 10.21 for its Instinct 3 series of smartwatches, including the Instinct 3 AMOLED, Instinct 3 Solar, and Instinct E models. The update follows version 10.19 and is aimed at resolving multiple software bugs, particularly involving GoPro remote control compatibility and app stability.
The latest beta update targets three specific bugs. For the Instinct 3 AMOLED, Garmin addressed a recurring crash issue linked to pairing GoPro cameras using the Garmin GoPro Camera Control app. The company did not confirm whether the same issue was reported on other compatible models such as the Fenix 8 or Forerunner 970.
Two additional fixes apply to the Instinct 3 Solar and Instinct E smartwatches. One resolves a glitch where editing options were missing in the Garmin Connect Mobile (GCM) app. The other corrects a problem that caused devices to crash when viewing glances—a feature that presents users with summary data on widgets such as heart rate, weather, or step count.
“Beta 10.21 is now available for select Instinct 3 models, targeting issues with GoPro connectivity and editing tools,” Garmin wrote in a forum post.
According to the company, approximately 20% of eligible smartwatch users have received the beta update so far. Distribution is being handled automatically via Bluetooth through GCM or manually through Garmin Express on a computer. A timeline for a stable public release has not been announced.
Garmin continues to iterate on its software for wearables, with the Instinct 3 series being a key product line aimed at outdoor and adventure users. The 45mm Solar model remains available at major retailers, including a current listing on Amazon priced at $39.99.
