Garmin has released software version 12.70 for its Venu X1 smartwatch, marking a significant update for the premium wearable first launched in June 2025.
The update introduces new features and fixes several bugs, enhancing the device’s health, fitness, and multisport capabilities.
Version 12.70 incorporates features previously available on Garmin’s Forerunner 570 and Forerunner 970 models. Among the additions are Evening Report, which provides a summary of daily activity for end-of-day reflection, and Running Tolerance, a weekly estimate of running performance. Users can also access Running Economy, which calculates the energy cost of aerobic running, and monitor step speed loss data when paired with a heart rate monitor accessory.
Triathletes and multisport enthusiasts gain new tools, including adaptive training plans, expanded multisport workout support, and Track Run integration within Daily Suggested Workouts.
The update also adds automatic lap detection for GPS-based timing gates and introduces customizable focus modes, along with a range of unspecified bug fixes.
Garmin reports that roughly 20% of Venu X1 users have already received the update, which is expected to reach devices automatically via Garmin Connect Mobile or Garmin Express. Users can also manually initiate the download by navigating to Menu > Settings > System > Software Update.
