GameChange Solar has secured its first solar tracker project in New Zealand, supplying technology for Bright Fern Energy’s 23 megawatt-peak (MWp) Dannevirke Solar Farm. The deal marks the U.S.-based company’s entry into the New Zealand market and broadens its presence in Oceania.
The project will use GameChange Solar’s Genius Tracker™ 1P system with a four-string configuration and integrated SpeedClamp™ technology, designed to cut installation time and costs. It will also be the first deployment of speed clamps in the region.
In addition, the system includes HailStow™ functionality, which tilts modules to safer angles during hailstorms, reducing the risk of damage and lowering insurance exposure. Early engineering work, including detailed site assessments, helped optimise the layout and reduce costs.
Located near the town of Dannevirke, the solar farm is scheduled to be commissioned by March 2026. It is the first of three fully consented projects Bright Fern Energy plans to deliver over the next 18 months.
GameChange Solar said the project demonstrates its ability to adapt tracker technology to local terrain and weather conditions, supporting efficient builds and long-term reliability for utility-scale developments in the region.
