Epic Games said it will introduce a new programe allowing Fortnite creators to sell in-game items directly from their islands, giving developers a share of revenue tied to player spending.

Starting in December 2025, creators will be able to sell “digital durable and consumable items” built in Fortnite. Epic said creators will receive 50% of the V-Bucks value from these sales, with the figure converted into U.S. dollars based on total customer spending each month. As part of a promotional period, creators will keep the full 100% of the value until the end of 2026.

“To determine the creator payout in terms of US dollars, Epic will take all real-money spent on V-Bucks in a given month, subtract platform fees (between 12% and 30% on current consoles), and then divide it by the total amount of V-Bucks spent by players,” the company explained.

On average, the 50% payout rate is expected to translate into about 37% of total revenue, while the 100% rate could bring creators around 74%. Epic said the system compares favorably to Roblox, where the payout rate is around 25%.

The company also plans to expand its engagement-based payouts. From November 1, 2025, creators will earn rewards for reengaging lapsed players, receiving 75% of their contributions to the pool for six months. Epic will also allow creators to spend money to promote their islands in a sponsored section, with revenue from those promotions shared back into the engagement pool.

Additional features include the launch of Fortnite Creator communities, giving developers tools to post updates, share content in-game, and access dedicated forums. These posts will be visible across lobbies, island pages, and other sections of the platform.
