Fitbit is preparing to re-enter the hardware market after a two-year pause, marking its first new product releases since 2023. The company, owned by Google, has confirmed that new devices are in development and are expected to debut in 2026, according to reports from 9to5Google.
The announcement comes after a prolonged period of inactivity from Fitbit’s hardware division. The last models launched were the Charge 6 in 2023 and the Inspire 3, Sense 2, and Versa 4 in 2022. Since then, Google’s wearable portfolio has been led by the Pixel Watch line, which recently saw the release of the Pixel Watch 4 in two sizes.
Fitbit did not provide details about the type or number of new devices it plans to introduce. The company’s statement indicated that new hardware would arrive “next year,” but it offered no specific timeline or product descriptions. This has prompted speculation that Fitbit could introduce an entirely new series, departing from its traditional product lines.
Industry observers suggest that Fitbit’s new hardware could be aligned with the full release of the Fitbit Coach app, currently available as a public preview. The app, which emphasizes guided workouts and health insights, is expected to become widely available in 2026, potentially complementing the company’s next generation of wearables.
A Fitbit spokesperson said the upcoming hardware plans reflect the company’s continued commitment to innovation within the Google ecosystem, adding that the new devices are being designed to build on Fitbit’s legacy of fitness tracking and health-focused technology.
