Polar has officially launched its Grit X2 smartwatch in the United States and Europe, broadening the availability of its mid-range outdoor wearable. The device, priced at $799.99, is positioned to compete with Garmin’s Fenix E and sits $200 below Polar’s higher-end Grit X2 Pro model.
The Grit X2 retains many features of the Grit X2 Pro, including ECG and skin temperature monitoring, while introducing a few hardware changes aimed at lowering cost. The smartwatch features a 1.29-inch AMOLED display within a 44.7 mm housing, offering a 454 x 454 pixel resolution and roughly 460 pixels per inch. Polar equips the watch with 32 GB of storage, 37 MB of RAM, and a 275 MHz processor.
The company said in a statement that “the Grit X2 offers premium design and advanced training tools at a more accessible price point.” Despite the similarities to its Pro counterpart, the Grit X2 uses plastic for both its front and back case instead of stainless steel and reduces its water resistance from 100 metres to 50 metres. It also features a smaller 310 mAh battery, offering up to 30 hours of runtime in performance mode, 90 hours in eco training mode, and seven days in smartwatch mode — about 30 to 35 percent less than the Grit X2 Pro.
The new smartwatch supports Polar’s core health-tracking functions, including heart rate monitoring, GPS tracking, and training load metrics. While it drops some premium materials, the device maintains a stainless steel bezel and AMOLED panel, offering what Polar describes as a “balance of durability, clarity, and performance.”
Available only in a single 44.7 mm size and Night Black colour, the Grit X2 is designed for athletes and outdoor enthusiasts seeking a blend of affordability and capability. With its current pricing, it aims to appeal to users seeking a durable multi-sport watch below the flagship tier of Garmin and Polar’s own lineup.
