Garmin has launched the DriveTrack 72 globally, expanding its lineup of GPS navigation devices with a model designed to assist both drivers and dog owners. The product serves as an upgrade to the DriveTrack 71 and combines turn-by-turn navigation with live canine tracking inside a vehicle.
The DriveTrack 72 features a 6.95-inch IPS colour TFT display with a resolution of 1,024 x 600 pixels. Users can view the location, name, distance and direction of as many as 20 dogs simultaneously while driving. The device is compatible with a range of handheld systems, including the Alpha 100 and Alpha 200i, as well as the Alpha T 20 Dog Collar.

Beyond canine monitoring, the DriveTrack 72 functions as a full-scale GPS navigator suited for both on-road and off-road travel. The model supports the download of Birdseye satellite imagery via Wi-Fi for reference in unfamiliar areas. Additional features available through the Garmin Drive app include weather forecasts, traffic updates and smart notifications. According to the product information, the DriveTrack 72 “features a 7-inch color screen, which you can use to navigate, with turn-by-turn directions. Plus, it can show the location of up to 20 dogs.”
Battery performance has been extended by approximately 50% compared to its predecessor, with Garmin indicating a runtime of around 1.5 hours on a single charge. The DriveTrack 72 is already available in multiple international markets, with pricing and distribution varying by region.
