Garmin has begun distributing software version 16.28 to users of its Forerunner 570 and Forerunner 970 smartwatches, marking what appears to be the conclusion of the 16.xx beta cycle that started in December 2025.
The stable release introduces more than ten new features to the running-focused wearables. Among the additions are four new “glances,” including tools for weight tracking, battery life and performance monitoring, favorite sports team updates, and a daily habits overview designed to highlight potential health impacts. The sleep glance has also been updated to include recommended bedtimes and wake times.

Garmin said in the release notes that the update “brings over ten new features” to the devices. The company has also introduced new training plans covering timed, cardio and strength workouts, along with expanded options for color filters, voice alerts and alarm sounds.
Additional changes allow users to pause smart notifications until after completing an activity through the stage menu. The update also addresses issues affecting indoor cycling tracking, the music player and Wi-Fi uploads.
