Garmin has begun releasing a new stable software update to several of its premium smartwatches, marking the first major non-beta rollout in months. System Software 21.25 is being deployed to devices including the Garmin Fenix 8, Garmin Fenix E, Garmin Enduro 3 and Garmin Tactix 8.
The update replaces System Software 20.29 for users not enrolled in Garmin’s Beta Program. According to the company’s forum post, the rollout has reached about 20% of eligible devices so far, with broader availability expected within 24 to 48 hours. Garmin did not provide advance notice before pushing the update but later confirmed its release online.

System Software 21.25 introduces nearly two dozen additions and refinements, including 12 new features. Among them are four new “glances” for tracking favorite sports teams, battery performance, weight and the impact of daily behaviors on health metrics. The update also adds new alarm sounds, voice alerts, multi-sport activity tracking and smart notification controls during workouts. In the original release notes, Garmin said the update “introduces a dozen fresh features, including four new glances alone.”
Beyond new tools, the update includes improvements to pace responsiveness and structured interval workouts, as well as revised training guidance that factors in recent dives. Several issues have also been addressed, including bugs related to Wi-Fi uploads, GPS acquisition in certain apps, indoor cycling course loading and music player access during activities.
