The 6 is said to be quite a popular series since its launch. In fact, this phone is also not free from a number of problems. Ranging from firmware update bugs, signal drop issues, and more. But now, a new problem makes the fingerprint sensor completely unusable.
Since the early launch of the , many users have reported that the fingerprint scanner performs a bit sluggishly. The company addressed this issue in its new software patch, but it did little to fix the problem.
However, a new issue has been added to the bug related to the fingerprint scanner, as users cannot use the biometric security system after their is replaced.
Reporting from Gizmochina (18/2), the impact of this issue is quite affecting the base and Pro models, and various users are using Reddit threads and Support to voice their complaints. Apart from that, this issue also affects those who have replaced the screen from the official Google store, such as UbreakIFix.
Interestingly, even the technicians working on the repairs can’t get the feature to work every time. Apparently, the problem is due to the use of Google’s proprietary fingerprint calibration tool.
The tool failed to install a new fingerprint scanner onto the device, for a minority of users who did a screen replacement. Those affected by the problem see a “Unable to find calibration software for this device” notification.
There has been no official response from Google as of yet, so we’ll have to wait for an official statement to see how the company resolves any of the other Pixel 6 issues.
