Apple Silicon is one of the fastest laptop chipsets on the market today. Apple already has a total of three chipsets for their Mac devices, namely the Apple M1, M1 Pro, and M1 Max.
However, it seems that Apple is not satisfied with only having three chipsets. In a recent leak, they announced that they will be updating their chipset every 18 months.

As is known, the Apple M1 was first launched in 2020. And shortly after, Apple introduced two other chipsets that have better performance, namely the M1 Pro and M1 Max.
Both the M1 Pro and M1 Max feature larger die sizes when compared to the standard version of the M1. With larger die sizes, both chipsets have a better CPU core and GPU core count. However, these two chipsets are not called successors to the Apple M1, just as another version of the chipset.

If this leak is true, then in the near future Apple will soon introduce their new chipset line, which is suspected to have the name Apple M2. Mentioned, this chipset will be launched in H2 2022 and will be present in the latest generation of MacBook Air, as reported by Wccftech (21/12).
However, until now the shortage of chipsets is still happening around the world. It remains unclear whether the Cupertino company will be able to manufacture their M2 chipset as planned or not.
