Apple Relys On Samsung and LG For iPhone 14 Series Screens

Renders of the upcoming iPhone 14 Pro Max leaked earlier this year, featuring a punch-hole camera design. And now new reports are emerging that LG and Samsung will be supplying punch-hole screens for the iPhone 14 series.

According to a report by The Elec, South Korean tech giant Samsung, which is Apple’s dominant supplier of OLED panels, will supply all perforated panels for the 6.1-inch iPhone 14 Pro, while sharing orders for the 6.7-inch iPhone, 14 Pro Max with LG. Displays for the first time.

However, the base model of the iPhone 14 is expected to continue to carry a notch-style appearance along with the Mini variant.

The report brings good news for LG which was previously unable to secure an order for its iPhone 13 series displays from Apple. In addition, this move also benefits Apple because it reduces their dependence on Samsung for the display panels of their flagship smartphones.

Display industry analyst Ross Young said the standard iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Max models will continue to use 60Hz displays.

Both Pro models will be equipped with a triple-lens rear camera system with an upgraded 48-megapixel Wide lens and 12-megapixel Ultra Wide and Telephoto lenses.

This is in line with information shared by TF International Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who in April claimed that the 48-megapixel lens will support 8K video recording.

iPhone 14 will adopt a full-screen design on the front and back of the smartphone body.

These rumors circulated widely after Apple was proven to have patented the front and back screen designs of the iPhone at the USPTO (United States Patent Agency).

Although it is not known what series the iPhone is intended for, many believe the patent is an embodiment of the iPhone 14 design.

This means that users can hold their device horizontally and use the bottom screen as a keyboard or in-game controls.

Also, this design offers more space to work with, as it can easily check two active apps at the same time.

The concept also proposes aerial charging technology that allows users to charge their phones without the hassle of using cables or charging cradles.

And although this feature has been introduced by Apple before, the new concept design features a charging pad that significantly increases bandwidth, allowing charging for longer distances.
