A video circulated on TikTok and X claiming to show gameplay from Grand Theft Auto 6 has been revealed to be an AI-generated deepfake rather than footage from the upcoming game. The clip, which featured a character described as protagonist Lucia in a visually advanced open world, amassed more than 8 million views within 24 hours before its creator acknowledged it had no connection to the title.
The video gained rapid traction amid heightened anticipation surrounding GTA 6, which is scheduled for release on November 19, 2026. The extended wait has contributed to an elevated appetite for unofficial information, with many fans reacting enthusiastically to any alleged leak. In the original post, the creator implied the footage showed dynamic weather effects and highly detailed NPCs that surpassed officially revealed material.
After questions emerged about the authenticity of the clip, the individual behind the account—known online as “Zap Actu GTA6”—confirmed that the footage was generated using artificial intelligence. The account holder described the upload as a “social experiment,” calling it a “big joke” and stating that it was intended to demonstrate “how easily AI content can be mistaken for the real thing in 2025.” The video has since been removed from the platform.
Despite the apology, skepticism persists among members of the fan community. The account responsible for the video has shared GTA-related content over several years, leading some to doubt claims that the post’s viral reach was unexpected. Observers have also noted that the account appears to meet X’s monetization requirements, prompting speculation that financial incentives may have played a role, though the creator denies any such intention.

Analysts warn that as AI-generated visuals become increasingly sophisticated, verifying gaming leaks may continue to require greater scrutiny, particularly for high-profile franchises with large and eager fan bases.
