AMD itself has had the intention to acquire Xilinx since October 2020. And on January 27, 2022, Chinese regulators have given permission for the acquisition.

If the acquisition goes well, it will greatly assist AMD in developing semiconductor technology in the future. Xilinx’s main rival, which is also an FPGA chip manufacturer, Altera, was acquired by Intel in 2015. With the acquisition made by AMD, of course also strengthens the competition between AMD and Intel.
