Apple’s upcoming AirPods Pro 3 are expected to launch this fall with two new health-focused sensors, according to reports, though one highly anticipated software feature may not be available at release.
Citing sources familiar with the matter, 9to5Mac reported that the earbuds will include a heart rate monitor and a skin temperature sensor, expanding on fitness functions previously seen in the Powerbeats Pro 2.
It remains unclear how Apple will use the temperature readings, though analysts suggest the data could support features similar to those on the Apple Watch Series 10, such as menstrual cycle tracking.
However, Apple’s planned Live Translation tool is not expected to be ready at launch. The function, which enables real-time language translation through artificial intelligence, is expected to roll out in a later update. “Sources told 9to5Mac that live translations will be added via a later software update,” the report said.
Apple has not confirmed whether the feature will also come to older AirPods models. The addition of biometric sensors aligns with Apple’s broader push into health monitoring across its devices.
