Arrowhead Game Studios said it will postpone upcoming content for Helldivers 2 to focus on fixing performance problems that worsened following its most recent update.
Game Director Mikael Eriksson acknowledged that the latest patch, titled Into the Unjust, introduced more technical issues than the development team had anticipated, leading to degraded performance across multiple platforms.
“After the last big update, Into the Unjust, we have experienced more issues than what we were comfortable with. Players felt it, we felt it, and I would say that the feedback we’ve gotten has been very justified,” Eriksson said.
The cooperative shooter, one of 2024’s most successful releases, has faced persistent technical complaints since launch, including frame rate drops and server instability. The latest update reportedly amplified these problems, prompting widespread criticism from the game’s community.
Eriksson said Arrowhead is now prioritizing stability and bug fixes before introducing new gameplay content. “What I can say is that we’re taking this very seriously and we are focusing way more now on addressing these issues to make sure this sort of thing doesn’t happen again,” he said, adding that “we have made the decision to push some of our content and future updates a little further while we’re addressing these things to make sure we can get the game to a more stable state.”
According to Eriksson, smaller bugs will be addressed in short-term patches, while broader performance improvements—such as enhanced frame rates and better server reliability—will require more extensive development time.
Arrowhead has not specified when the delayed content will arrive but emphasized that long-term stability remains its primary goal.
