Asus has unveiled the PE1000U, a compact fanless mini PC designed primarily for industrial and edge computing applications. The device features a rugged enclosure with MIL-STD-810H certification, positioning it for use in environments where resistance to shock, vibration and temperature extremes is required.
The PE1000U is offered with a choice of Intel Core Ultra Series 2 processors, including the Core Ultra 7 265U and the Core Ultra 5 235U. While both chips feature 12 cores and are rated at 15 watts, they belong to different architectures, with the higher-end 265U based on Arrow Lake-U and the 235U built on Meteor Lake-U. According to the product description, the system relies entirely on passive cooling, as it is “completely fanless,” eliminating moving parts that could fail in harsh conditions.

In terms of performance, the Core Ultra 7 variant delivers a modest lead in multi-core workloads, while both configurations are intended to handle light to moderate computing tasks. Asus positions the system for continuous operation in industrial settings, where stability and reliability are prioritized over peak performance.
Connectivity is a central focus of the PE1000U. The mini PC includes four USB 3.2 Type-A ports, support for up to four COM ports, and up to four Ethernet connections, with dual 2.5-gigabit Ethernet available as standard. Display output is handled via HDMI 2.0 and DisplayPort, while internal expansion options include multiple M.2 slots for storage, Wi-Fi and cellular connectivity, as well as a 2.5-inch drive bay and dual CAN bus support.
