BMW has revealed its latest electric two-wheeler concept, the Vision CE, which incorporates an enclosed protective cage designed to eliminate the need for helmets or riding gear, while adding new safety and customization options.
The long-wheelbase vehicle borrows elements from BMW’s CE 04 scooter but introduces a buggy-style roll cage that surrounds the rider with a seat, headrest and seat belt. “It is this aspect that, according to BMW, renders a helmet and protective clothing unnecessary,” the company said.
BMW said the Vision CE may also be capable of self-balancing when stationary, a feature intended to improve stability for new riders. A rear-facing radar, shown in concept renders, suggests additional safety technology may be part of the design.
The bike’s modular cage allows for accessories such as auxiliary lights, luggage racks, a windshield and weather panels, positioning the model for urban mobility as well as more practical uses. Performance details have not been confirmed, though the platform appears similar to the CE 04, which has a top speed of 120 km/h and a range of up to 130 km.
BMW plans to showcase the Vision CE at the IAA Mobility 2025 show in Munich from Sept. 9 to 14. Whether the concept reaches production remains uncertain, but BMW Motorrad has previously turned “Vision” models into road-ready vehicles with minimal changes.
