The role-playing game Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 will receive new free content for players worldwide, its developer said, following a strong showing at The Game Awards 2025 where the title won multiple honours, including Game of the Year.
The game, developed by the small French studio Sandfall Interactive, won nine awards at the ceremony, drawing attention to the team and its debut project. Shortly after accepting the awards, creative director Guillaume Broche confirmed that previously teased additional content would be released immediately.
“If you remember, we promised some content a few months ago. I’m very happy to say that it’s releasing now and you can just go home and play it,” Broche said during his speech. He added that the update would include “new weapons, new quest, new boss,” describing it as a free release intended as a thank-you to players.
Sandfall Interactive had earlier hinted on social media that the game would receive improvements and new features, including additional content and changes to certain maps. Details of the update were not disclosed in advance, and the studio has not published a full breakdown of the additions.
Broche also credited the game’s community for its success, telling players that their engagement had a lasting impact on the studio. “You changed our lives, you changed the studio’s life,” he said, as Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 continues to build momentum following its awards sweep.
