LG Electronics this week unveiled CLOiD, a humanoid household robot designed to perform complex domestic tasks, as the South Korean firm signaled its intention to expand the role of robotics in everyday home life.
Displayed at CES 2026, CLOiD is presented as a multi-purpose home assistant capable of folding laundry, unloading dishwashers and serving food. LG said the robot is aimed at reducing the time people spend on routine chores, with the company noting that housework “consumes a large portion of our free time.”

The robot features an AI-enabled head unit equipped with a display, cameras and sensors that allow it to navigate indoor spaces and interact with users. CLOiD moves on a wheeled base, similar to robotic vacuum cleaners, while its two articulated arms include shoulder, elbow and wrist joints, along with hands that have independently moving fingers to handle delicate objects.
During demonstrations, LG showed CLOiD starting laundry machines and folding clothes after washing, as well as assisting in food handling tasks. The robot can also communicate with users and control connected smart appliances, though its arms are limited to grasping objects positioned at knee height or above.

LG indicated that CLOiD remains a concept rather than a commercial product, with no release timeline announced. The company said it plans to continue developing robots with “practical functions and forms for housework,” while gradually integrating the underlying robotics technology into other home appliances.
