DJI has launched the Mini 5 Pro, the latest addition to its compact drone lineup, introducing a 1-inch 50-megapixel sensor, omnidirectional LiDAR-based obstacle detection and new gimbal rotation capabilities. Prices start at 799 euros ($947).
The Mini 5 Pro marks the first time a DJI Mini series drone includes a 1-inch CMOS sensor, capable of 50 MP stills and 4K HDR video at 60 frames per second with up to 14 stops of dynamic range. It also supports 4K slow motion at 120 fps and 10-bit H.265 recording. “The Mini 5 Pro is the first DJI Mini series drone to adopt a 1-inch sensor,” the company said in its announcement.
The drone adds features aimed at both enthusiasts and professionals, including a 48 mm telephoto mode for improved zoom, portrait optimization tools and expanded ISO ranges for low-light shooting. Its obstacle detection system combines LiDAR with fisheye cameras, binocular sensors and infrared, enabling return-to-home navigation even without GPS.
A redesigned gimbal offers 225 degrees of roll rotation, alongside a True Vertical Shooting mode for instant portrait captures. Intelligent flight features include MasterShots, QuickShots, ActiveTrack 360 and Waypoint Flight. Files can be transferred via Wi-Fi 6 at up to 100 MB/s, even when the device is powered off.
The Mini 5 Pro is available through DJI’s online store and authorized retailers. It is priced at 799 euros for the base model, 999 euros with the Fly More Combo (DJI RC-N3), and 1,129 euros with the Fly More Combo (DJI RC 2). DJI Care Refresh protection plans covering collisions, flyaways and water damage are offered separately.
