Startup Eazeye has introduced the Paper 2.0 tablet, a device that aims to bridge the gap between traditional LCD and E Ink displays through the use of reflective LCD (rLCD) technology. The company said the tablet can display smooth video playback and millions of colors while remaining easily readable in direct sunlight.
“Paper 2.0 is designed to combine the advantages of E Ink and LCDs,” Eazeye said in its announcement. “A reflective LCD allows the tablet to display videos and animations smoothly and millions of colors, while reflecting ambient light to illuminate the panel.” The display’s reflective design eliminates the need for a backlight during the day and relies on front lighting for night use, reducing power consumption and eye strain.
The 10.3-inch panel offers a resolution of 1,920 x 1,440 pixels with a 60Hz refresh rate. Running on Eazeye OS, based on Android 14, the tablet supports standard Android applications. Inside, it uses a MediaTek Helio G99 processor with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of expandable storage via microSD. Despite its 8.4mm thickness, the tablet includes a 6,000mAh battery that Eazeye claims delivers up to 15 hours of use with lighting or 67 hours without it.
The company said the combination of energy-efficient hardware and reflective display aims to provide a balanced experience for productivity, reading, and light entertainment. Paper 2.0’s design focuses on long battery life in bright environments, addressing a common challenge for conventional LCD tablets.
Eazeye’s Paper 2.0 is available for pre-order through the company’s online store for $379, including a case and stylus. Deliveries are expected to begin in April 2026, subject to applicable import taxes, customs duties, and shipping costs.
