Chinese robotics firm Unitree has unveiled the latest version of its humanoid robot, the G1, which now performs advanced martial arts routines with greater speed and accuracy. In a newly released video titled “Kungfu Kid V6.0”, the 5-foot-5 (165 cm) robot executes complex kung fu movements, spin kicks, and somersaults, showing significant progress over earlier versions.
“All footage was recorded in real time without any visual effects,” Unitree said in its announcement, emphasizing the authenticity of the performance. The company added that the G1’s motion models are based on the open-source LAFAN1 dataset, which contains human motion capture data, allowing the robot to mimic human agility and control more closely.
Compared with its March 2025 demonstration, the updated G1 now exhibits improved stability and coordination. Earlier versions could perform only simple punch combinations and slow spin kicks, while the latest model demonstrates fluid sequences and rapid transitions between movements, highlighting major advances in motion control.
The G1 features 31 degrees of freedom (excluding the hands) and uses a full-body sensor system for balance, supported by high-performance actuators that enable quick and precise responses. Unitree previously showcased the robot’s progress in April 2025, when the G1 participated in a boxing demonstration.
Reactions online have ranged from admiration to concern. Many viewers on YouTube and Reddit praised the robot’s fluidity, while others questioned possible military uses. One commenter joked, “He’s passed his black belt exam – now all he needs is his vacuum cleaner license.”
