Eazeye has unveiled the Radiant Monitor 2, an upgraded version of its portable transflective display designed for users who need a screen that remains visible even under direct sunlight.
The new monitor builds on the concept introduced with the original Radiant Monitor, combining the benefits of a traditional LCD panel with transflective technology that uses ambient light to improve visibility and reduce power consumption.
Designed for Outdoor Visibility
At the heart of the Radiant Monitor 2 is a 15.6-inch transflective LCD panel with a Full HD resolution of 1,920 x 1,080 pixels and a 60Hz refresh rate.
Unlike conventional displays that rely entirely on a backlight, the transflective panel can utilize reflected ambient light, similar to how E Ink displays operate. This allows the screen to remain highly readable in bright outdoor environments where traditional LCDs often struggle.
As a result, users can comfortably view content in direct sunlight without the washed-out appearance commonly associated with standard portable monitors.
Improved Image Quality and Eye Comfort
Eazeye says the second-generation model delivers several improvements over its predecessor, including higher contrast, enhanced color accuracy, and a new UHR coating designed to reduce reflections.
The monitor also introduces an upgraded low-light mode featuring a warmer color temperature and lower minimum brightness levels intended to reduce eye strain during extended use.
Low Power Consumption
One of the key advantages of transflective technology is energy efficiency.
When sufficient ambient light is available, users can turn off the monitor’s backlight entirely. Under these conditions, power consumption drops to approximately 3 watts, making the display particularly attractive for mobile professionals working with laptops away from power outlets.

The Radiant Monitor 2 offers a contrast ratio of 1,000:1 and a response time of 5 milliseconds.
However, Eazeye notes that the display’s viewing angles are more limited than those of conventional IPS panels, with a viewing angle rating of 65 degrees.
For connectivity, the monitor supports both USB-C and HDMI connections, enabling compatibility with laptops, desktops, gaming devices, and other external sources.
Despite its portable positioning, the monitor weighs approximately 1.77 kilograms, making it heavier than many competing portable displays.

The Radiant Monitor 2 is available through Eazeye’s online store for $789.
