Elevation Lab has launched a revised version of its TimeCapsule battery case for the Apple AirTag, offering longer battery life and improved durability while reducing the overall size of the accessory. The case replaces the standard AirTag coin cell with two AAA batteries and is rated to keep the tracker powered for as long as five years.
The original TimeCapsule, introduced in December 2024, used two AA batteries and promised up to ten years of operation but was considered bulky by many users. The new model halves the case size by switching to AAA batteries, while still providing a power reserve significantly above Apple’s stock setup. According to the company, Apple’s “Find My” network enables AirTags to be tracked worldwide, and the accessory is designed to support that capability with a much longer energy supply than normal.

Elevation Lab said the redesigned case delivers five times the battery life of the CR2032 lithium coin cell typically used in an AirTag. The manufacturer recommends Energizer Ultimate Lithium AAA batteries for optimal performance, warning that alkaline alternatives have a higher self-discharge rate and “will likely result in a shorter battery life,” as noted in the original announcement.
Beyond power improvements, the TimeCapsule includes durability upgrades for outdoor or marine use. The enclosure carries an IP69 rating — compared with the AirTag’s usual IP67 — giving the device additional protection against water exposure, which the company says makes it suitable for tracking items such as wet luggage during boat travel.
The TimeCapsule for Apple AirTag is now available from Elevation Lab’s online store for $19.99.
