Elon Musk’s social media platform X experienced a major outage on Saturday that affected tens of thousands of users in the United States and several other countries before being largely restored, according to tracking service Downdetector.

Outage reports peaked at more than 25,800 around 8:51 a.m. ET (1251 GMT), with users citing problems accessing the platform, the monitoring site said. By 12:09 p.m. ET, reports had declined to fewer than 650.

Users in countries including Germany, Spain, France, India, Canada, Australia, and Britain also reported issues during the disruption, data from Downdetector showed.

X, formerly known as Twitter, did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Following the incident, Musk posted on X that he was stepping up his involvement across his businesses. “Back to spending 24/7 at work and sleeping in conference/server/factory rooms,” he wrote. “I must be super focused on X/xAI and Tesla (plus Starship launch next week), as we have critical technologies rolling out.”

Musk’s public remarks come amid growing concerns among investors about his time commitment to Tesla (TSLA.O), which has seen a decline in annual vehicle deliveries and faces mounting competition in the electric vehicle market.

Last month, Musk sought to reassure investors by stating that he would reduce his time spent with the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE)—a loosely defined initiative aligned with his political activity—to just one or two days per week beginning in May.

Musk, who reportedly spent nearly $300 million supporting former U.S. President Donald Trump and other Republican campaigns in the last election cycle, said this week he intends to significantly reduce political spending going forward.

His involvement in political matters has drawn criticism and protests in both the U.S. and Europe, contributing to challenges for Tesla, including a reported drop in sales.

Despite the recent outage and investor concerns, Musk indicated his renewed focus will be on advancing key initiatives across his companies, including social media, AI development, electric vehicles, and space exploration.
