Ford Motor has completed the delivery of all complimentary North American Charging Standard (NACS) adapters ordered by its electric vehicle (EV) customers, a year after becoming the first automaker to commit to adopting Tesla’s charging technology. The company has now distributed 140,000 adapters, enabling its EV owners to access Tesla’s Supercharger network.

Ford initially relied on Tesla to produce the adapters but encountered significant delays in supply. In response, the automaker partnered with Lectron to develop an alternative, which began shipping in October 2024.

“Every complimentary adapter reserved by our U.S. customers has been shipped,” said Ken Williams, Ford’s head of charging and energy services. “From customer reservation No. 1 in Austin, Texas, to customer reservation No. 139,936 in Waconia, Minnesota, we are truly grateful for those who have charged with us (and patiently waited for us).”

The growing availability of NACS adapters has led to increased usage of Tesla’s Superchargers by Ford EV drivers. The company reports that 20% of charging sessions on its BlueOval Charging Network now occur at Superchargers.

Ford is now exclusively supplying Lectron-produced adapters, which have been tested for durability and safety, including extreme weather conditions and submersion tests.
