Chinese game developer Game Science has released a significant new update for its 2024 action title Black Myth: Wukong, bringing technical fixes and optimizations to players on both PC and PlayStation 5. The company confirmed that the PlayStation version of the update will require more than 90GB of available storage space to install.
The studio announced through its official social media channels that the update will begin rolling out gradually. According to Game Science, the unusually large file size on PlayStation 5 — approximately 93.5GB — stems from differences in file storage methods compared to other platforms. “The update requires substantial free space on PS5 due to how data is stored and optimized,” the developer stated.
The update, identified as version 1.0.20.21756, includes numerous bug fixes and performance enhancements. Game Science advised players who lack sufficient storage space to either continue playing the existing version or uninstall the game before downloading the latest build. PC players who use mods were also urged to remove them and verify game files before applying the update to prevent compatibility issues.
In addition, the developer noted that the patch may trigger shader recompilation upon installation. Players encountering crashes during this process are advised to restart the game or skip the compilation entirely. Game Science has published the full changelog on its official website.
Black Myth: Wukong, based on the classic Chinese novel Journey to the West, has received global attention for its visual fidelity and action gameplay. The latest update reflects Game Science’s ongoing efforts to refine the experience across platforms as the title continues to attract a growing international player base.
