Garmin has released a new beta update, Version 23.22, for its Fenix 7, Fenix 7 Pro, and related smartwatch lines, returning to the 23.xx update track after previously signaling the end of that cycle. The update is currently available exclusively through Garmin’s Beta Program.
According to the company, the release focuses solely on bug fixes, targeting four specific issues, including two affecting the IR SOS message system. The update also corrects a problem that could cause a device shutdown during software updates and resolves a display error related to satellite notifications.
“Beta Version 23.22 only introduces bug fixes,” Garmin said in a forum post. “Specifically, the new update bundles four fixes, two of which are linked to the company’s IR SOS message service.”
Unlike earlier beta releases, the new software is not pushed automatically to eligible devices. Instead, users must manually check for updates by navigating through the Main Menu to System > Software Update > Check for Updates.
The return to the 23.xx beta line comes just weeks after Garmin rolled out Version 23.18, which it described as the final release of that branch. That earlier update introduced nearly two dozen bug fixes, improvements, and new features across the Fenix 7 family, as well as the Enduro 2, Epix 2, Marq Gen 2, and Quatix 7 models.
The latest update underscores Garmin’s continued software support for its previous-generation wearables, even as it promotes newer models at the premium end of its product line.
