Garmin has released a new beta software update for several of its high-end smartwatches, including the Fenix 8, Fenix 8 Pro and Tactix 8, as the company prepares for a broader stable software rollout.
The update, Beta Version 21.19, follows earlier beta releases this month that addressed issues related to heart rate variability and other bugs. Garmin has been running multiple beta builds as part of its 21.xx development cycle, signalling continued refinement before the software transitions to a stable branch.

In a post on its user forum, Garmin said the latest beta update “should prevent blank data fields from occurring on the map split screen” for devices using memory-in-pixel (MiP) displays. The company also said the update fixes an issue that caused the Backcountry Ski post-activity summary to omit maximum speed and mileage data.
As with previous beta releases, some features remain disabled. Aviation, Dive and ECG functions are not active in Version 21.19, suggesting that additional beta updates are likely before a full public release becomes available.

Garmin said the update is being rolled out gradually to users enrolled in its Beta Program, with about half of eligible devices already receiving a notification. The company added that the update should reach remaining supported smartwatches within the next few days.
