Garmin appears to be planning a wider rollout of LTE-enabled smartwatches, according to a recent leak, with the company potentially consolidating its inReach satellite connectivity features into future wrist-worn devices. The leak suggests that more than just the previously rumored Fenix 8 Pro could be involved in the upcoming releases.

References to LTE and phone capabilities were briefly observed in Garmin’s Connect app earlier this year, indicating potential updates for models including the Enduro 3, Fenix E, Fenix 8, and Tactix 8, although the references were later removed and no official announcements have been made. Subsequent speculation suggested LTE support would initially target the Fenix 8 series.

The leak, reported by the5krunner, also hints at the integration of Garmin’s inReach functionality, which currently enables global two-way messaging via the Iridium satellite network on devices such as the inReach Mini 2, inReach Messenger, GPSMAP 86, and Montana 760.

Consolidating this technology into a wrist-worn device could resemble previous offshoots in Garmin’s lineup, similar to the Quatix 8 released in June.

The company has not confirmed the leak or provided a timeline for potential launches. Analysts and enthusiasts are closely monitoring Garmin for further details on whether these new devices will expand the functionality of its popular Fenix series or introduce entirely new models.
