armin has refreshed its Instinct Crossover Tactical Edition, adding an AMOLED display and other hardware upgrades while removing solar charging support. The updated model was announced alongside the Bounce 2, Venu 4, and a standard Instinct Crossover update.
The Instinct Crossover AMOLED Tactical Edition introduces multi-band GPS, a 390 x 390-pixel AMOLED screen, 4 GB of internal storage, and a dimmable LED flashlight. A green flashlight function, not present on the standard version, is also included. “The new model expands on the previous Instinct Crossover Tactical Edition in several areas, but it also falls short in others,” Garmin said in its announcement.
Battery performance is significantly reduced compared with the Solar model, which offered up to 70 days of use with solar charging. The AMOLED Tactical Edition runs up to 14 days in standard mode, or just 5 days with the always-on display activated.
As before, the Tactical Edition provides specialized tools such as Stealth Mode, night vision compatibility, waypoint projection, Jumpmaster Mode, a kill switch, and Garmin’s tactical activity tracking. It also includes an Applied Ballistics app and support for rucking workouts.
The Instinct Crossover AMOLED Tactical Edition retails at $749.99, around $100 more than the standard version. Garmin is currently offering the watch only in black.
