Garmin has unveiled the fēnix 8 Pro series, its first smartwatch line to include integrated inReach satellite and cellular connectivity, allowing users to stay connected in remote areas without carrying a phone.
The new models let wearers send and receive text messages, share real-time location check-ins, and transmit LiveTrack links directly from the wrist. When connected to LTE networks, the devices expand functionality to include phone calls, short voice messages and weather forecasts.
For emergency situations, the watches are equipped with SOS capability supported by Garmin’s global response center, which coordinates with local search and rescue services. Garmin said its response network has handled more than 17,000 incidents in over 150 countries since its inception.
The fēnix 8 Pro – MicroLED introduces a new display technology, delivering 4,500 nits of brightness and over 400,000 individual LEDs for improved visibility in direct sunlight. The series also retains Garmin’s rugged design standards with dive-rated durability, titanium bezels and metal sensor guards.
In addition to connectivity, the watches include health, fitness and navigation features such as ECG monitoring, sleep tracking, endurance scoring and preloaded topographic maps.
The AMOLED version, priced from $1,199.99, offers up to 27 days of battery life in smartwatch mode, while the MicroLED edition at $1,999.99 provides up to 10 days. Both go on sale September 8, 2025.
