Xiaomi’s upcoming 16 series smartphones could feature some of the largest batteries in the market, according to leaks ahead of their expected launch this month. The top-tier Xiaomi 16 Pro Max may include a 7,500 mAh cell, while the base Xiaomi 16 could carry a 7,000 mAh battery.
Leaker Yogesh Brar posted on X that the Xiaomi 16 Pro is tipped to come with a smaller 6,300 mAh battery, still an upgrade from the 6,100 mAh cell in the Xiaomi 15 Pro. “These are massive battery numbers even compared to the company’s already large batteries in the Xiaomi 15 series,” the leak stated.

– Xiaomi 16 : 7,000mAh
– Xiaomi 16 Pro : 6,300mAh
– Xiaomi 16 Pro Max : 7,500mAh— Yogesh Brar (@heyitsyogesh) September 4, 2025
The devices are expected to be among the first powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset, due to be announced later in September. Reports suggest the Xiaomi 16 lineup could launch on September 24, alongside rumors of a 16 Ultra with a 1-inch main sensor and 200-MP telephoto lens.
The move has been made possible by silicon-carbon battery technology, which Chinese manufacturers have adopted more rapidly than Apple, Samsung or Google. Rival brands are also expected to increase capacities, with the OnePlus 15 tipped for a 7,000 mAh cell and Oppo’s Find X9 Pro at around 7,500 mAh.
Xiaomi has not confirmed the specifications. If accurate, the 16 series would represent a major leap in battery capacity compared with the company’s current flagship devices.
