Google said on Wednesday it is rolling out an update to its Discover feed designed to make it easier for users to find and follow publishers and creators. The service, traditionally focused on news articles, will expand to include videos and posts from platforms such as YouTube Shorts, Instagram and X.

The company said the change aims to help users keep track of their favorite creators across formats. People will be able to follow them directly from Discover, with previews of articles, videos and social posts displayed alongside preferred news sources. According to Google’s research team, users “enjoyed seeing a mix of content in Discover, including videos and social posts, in addition to articles.”

Alongside the update, Google is testing a new native Search app for Windows. The experimental tool can be opened with an Alt + Space shortcut and allows users to search across local files, Google Drive, installed applications and the web. The app also integrates Google Lens and supports an AI-powered search mode.

Google also announced a partnership with StopNCII.org, a UK-based charity working to prevent the spread of Non-Consensual Intimate Imagery (NCII). Under the collaboration, Google will use StopNCII’s digital identifiers, or hashes, to detect and remove policy-violating content. Individuals will also be able to create their own identifiers on the StopNCII website, which will be shared with participating companies to help block harmful images.

The company said it plans to continue developing new ways for people to connect directly with publishers and creators within Discover, while strengthening its safeguards for user protection.
