Google’s newly released Pixel 10 smartphone is facing early complaints from users reporting defective displays that render devices temporarily unusable.
The Pixel 10 began shipping on Aug. 28, but within days, several owners posted images online showing screens filled with red, green or blue stripes. The issue, shared across Reddit and Android Authority forums, appears to resolve itself at times when the phone is locked and unlocked, but users say the devices are unreliable.
“Second day of usage (brand new) I opened WhatsApp and that’s what happened!! I lock the screen open back on and it disappeared,” one Reddit user wrote.
The root cause of the problem has not been identified. Analysts say it could stem from hardware defects in the display, motherboard or graphics chip, though a faulty graphics driver cannot be ruled out. Repairs could be costly if linked to internal components.
Google has not commented on the matter. Consumer advocates recommend exchanging the Pixel 10 if possible, or contacting Google for repair or replacement. It is unclear whether the company can address the defect through a software update or if a recall program will be required.
