IKEA has issued two updates to its Home Smart app, versions 1.57.0 and 1.57.1, extending Matter support to all users and adding new Thread networking capabilities. The updates, released in early November for iOS and Android, mark the end of beta testing for Matter integration through the company’s Dirigera Hub.
The Dirigera Hub has been able to function as a Matter controller since earlier this year, but the feature had previously been restricted to beta users. With the rollout now complete, customers can connect a broader range of third-party smart home devices to the IKEA ecosystem. One line in the original article noted that the expansion “allows users to connect a wide range of smart home devices from other brands to the IKEA hub.”

IKEA has also activated Thread 1.4 support, enabling customers to create a shared Thread network or join an existing one. Earlier app versions did not offer the option to join a pre-existing network. The company says the change is intended to improve overall system stability. Users can now view their current Thread configuration and modify it through the app’s settings.
The Dirigera Hub received a separate firmware update in late October, introducing Matter 1.3 support for third-party water leak sensors and energy-measuring plugs. The hub has since been certified for Matter 1.4 by the Connectivity Standards Alliance, though IKEA has not disclosed when that update will be distributed to customers. The retailer is preparing additional Matter-compatible devices — including bulbs, sensors, plugs and remotes — scheduled for release in early 2026.
The latest version of the IKEA Home Smart app is available from the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.
