Hytale, a sandbox massively multiplayer online game developed by Hypixel Studios, entered Early Access on Tuesday, marking a major milestone for a project that has been in development for more than a decade and has drawn strong interest from both Minecraft and MMO players.

The game blends a familiar voxel-based visual style with role-playing and MMO elements, including procedurally generated worlds, dungeons, boss encounters and a combat system featuring melee, ranged weapons and magic. Development on Hytale began in 2015, with Hypixel Studios formally established three years later after emerging from the popular Hypixel Minecraft server community.

Multiplayer is a core focus of the title, with support for large servers, community-created content and custom game modes alongside solo and cooperative play. Players can gather resources, craft items and build structures while also engaging with more structured content such as factions, ancient ruins and story-driven encounters.

Ahead of the launch, Hypixel Studios co-founder and chief executive Simon Collins-Laflamme encouraged players to prepare in advance, writing on X that users should download the launcher early to avoid “launch-day stress.” The studio has said it expects more than one million players to access the game at release.

Hytale’s Early Access version became available on Jan. 13 at 3 p.m. UTC and is distributed exclusively through the official Hytale website, rather than major platforms such as Steam. Pricing starts at $23.79 for the Standard Edition, with higher-priced editions offering additional cosmetic items, as the studio begins testing the game with a broad player base.
