Naoya Matsumoto’s manga Kaiju No. 8 has surpassed 19 million copies in circulation across print and digital formats in Japan, according to publisher Shueisha. The series, serialized on Shonen Jump+, has also gained international popularity through its anime adaptation, particularly in North America.
The franchise is now expanding into interactive media with the release of Kaiju No. 8 THE GAME, co-produced by Akatsuki Games, TOHO and Production I.G. The title is available on the App Store and Google Play, with a Steam version expected soon.
“Kaiju No. 8 THE GAME—co-produced by the powerhouse team of Akatsuki Games, TOHO, and Production I.G—is now officially available on the App Store and Google Play, with a Steam release coming soon,” the developers said.
The game introduces a new character, Sagan Shinomiya, described as the non-blood-related elder sister of Kikoru Shinomiya. She plays a central role in the game’s original storyline, using a shield to defend allies. A related event, Dimensionally Distorted Destiny, explores her strained relationship with Kikoru and her encounter with Kafka Hibino.
The free-to-play game also adds new story content, with Chapter 3 focusing on battles against Dimensional Kaiju. It supports multiple languages including Japanese, English, Chinese, Korean and French, and features in-app purchases.
