Generative artificial intelligence is set to become a lasting part of the film and video game industries, according to Daniel Vávra, director and writer of the Kingdom Come: Deliverance series, who argues that recent examples highlight how difficult the technology will be to avoid.

Vávra shared his view in a post on X, entering a broader industry debate over the creative role of AI. Opinions remain divided, with some executives questioning its artistic value, while others, including prominent game creators, expect AI to significantly reshape development processes over the coming years.

As an illustration, Vávra highlighted a fan-made trailer produced with generative AI that features cinematic depictions of medieval battles and burning cities. He noted that achieving a similar result through traditional production would normally require a large team and weeks of work, while the AI-assisted version was completed by a single individual in a matter of days.

Supporters of this perspective say generative AI has the potential to democratize content creation by lowering costs and reducing technical barriers, allowing individuals and small teams to produce high-quality visuals previously reserved for major studios.

Critics, however, continue to raise concerns about the technology’s impact on jobs, originality and artistic depth, warning that widespread adoption could lead to uniform aesthetics and workforce disruption. As generative AI tools improve and spread, the debate over their role in creative industries is likely to intensify.
