MachineGames, the Bethesda Softworks subsidiary best known for reviving the Wolfenstein franchise, has sparked speculation about an upcoming project following its 15th anniversary celebration. The Swedish developer shared a commemorative poster on social media featuring an empty frame marked with a question mark — prompting fans to wonder what the studio may be working on next.

The studio’s post on X (formerly Twitter) displayed artwork from all its major releases, including Wolfenstein: The New Order (2014), The Old Blood (2015), Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus (2017), Wolfenstein: Youngblood (2019), and Indiana Jones and the Great Circle (2024). The inclusion of a vacant frame alongside these titles has led many to believe that MachineGames is teasing an unannounced game. “We’re not done with Wolfenstein yet. We have a story to tell,” studio head Jerk Gustafsson previously said, reinforcing speculation that the long-awaited Wolfenstein III could be in development.

The tease coincides with a free anniversary update for Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, adding a New Game+ mode, extended ending, developer commentary, and concept art. The game, released earlier this year to critical acclaim, marked MachineGames’ successful expansion beyond the Wolfenstein universe and has fueled rumors of a potential sequel.

Lead Prop Artist Pontus Wahlin hinted at the studio’s broader ambitions, saying, “With our upcoming projects, we’re well-positioned for continued growth and success. The experience gained from our work on Indiana Jones and the Great Circle has provided valuable insights that will only enhance our future initiatives.”

While MachineGames has yet to confirm any new title, the mysterious question mark has stirred enthusiasm among fans and industry observers alike. Whether the studio’s next release revisits B.J. Blazkowicz’s saga or introduces an entirely new IP, expectations are high that MachineGames will continue its legacy of cinematic, story-driven action games.
