Meta said on Tuesday it is rolling out an AI-powered voice translation feature to all users on Facebook and Instagram globally, in a move aimed at helping creators reach broader audiences.
The feature, available in all markets where Meta AI operates, enables content to be automatically translated into another language while preserving the creator’s voice and tone. A lip-sync option can also be enabled to match translated speech with mouth movements for a more natural appearance.
At launch, the tool supports translations between English and Spanish, with additional languages planned. It is available to Facebook creators with at least 1,000 followers and all public Instagram accounts. Creators can toggle the option before publishing reels and preview translations and lip syncs before making them public.
Meta said creators will also gain access to new analytics showing views by language, helping them track reach across different audiences. Facebook users can additionally upload dubbed audio tracks manually through Meta Business Suite, expanding their reels beyond English- or Spanish-speaking viewers.
Instagram head Adam Mosseri underscored the broader goal of the rollout. “We believe there are lots of amazing creators out there who have potential audiences who don’t necessarily speak the same language,” he said. “And if we can help you reach those audiences who speak other languages, reach across cultural and linguistic barriers, we can help you grow your following and get more value out of Instagram and the platform.”
